Things to do in the military

As the 'Joining the military' thread was getting very off topic, this is for discussing things you can do in the military, and you can also share what you want to do in the military.

Actually, marksmans aren't usually spec ops. There's a Designated Marksman in every Marine squad, and I'm assuming in ever Army squad too. They're just the person with best marksmanship scores, they get to customize their rifle with a scope, bipod, and other stuff. Sometimes they get an M14 too, instead of a hopped-up M16.

the only problem with flying jets which dont get me wrong i love flight but the only problem is that you take off cycle to 30,000 fly over your target. then drop bomb and RTB. Very rarely do you truly gt to kick the tires and light the fires anymore. helicopters however, your in the thick of it. flying low off the deck by fifteen feet at over a hundred miles an hour taking ground fire.

Well, he wants to join 160th SOAR (Special Operations Aviation Regiment) aka Night Stalkers so it'll be whatever chopper they're using at the time, as of now it's mainly the UH-60 Blackhawk.

I'm planning on going into USMC Force Recon. I haven't talked to a recruiter about it, so does anyone know if you can choose to enter that MOS or if you're selected for it like Marine snipers?

I know im not exactly dedicated to one spacific goal as of now, but i have only looked aorund a little bit. So far im considering, if i go into the army that is, the following positions:
M1 Armor Crewman
Special Forces Engineer Sergeant
Indirect Fire Infantryman
Special Forces Weapons Sergeant
Diver
Combat Engineer

Again, i know im pretty spread out, but thats what i have herd about and liked the sound of in general so far.

Yeah, if I went into Army SF I'd take the Weapons SGT route, it appeals to me more than the other 4? roles you can be as a Green Beret. Don't be ashamed that you have so many ideas, for I do too, or at least I used to. And at least you have an idea of what you want to do, and have researched all the possibilities of the military. Many many people join up and have little or no idea what they are going to do.
