I'm going to list some airsoft abbreviations for the people that don't know them. If you know of any others, please let me know.
AAR- After Action Report. A summary or story about an event that took place, usually written by someone involved in the combat.
AEG- Automatic Electric Gun. Usually refers to metal gearboxed 260 FPS or better guns
AEP - Automatic Electric Pistol. Battery operated Nonblowback pistol with Full-Auto capability and power above LPEGs
ALICE - All-purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment. Modular system for webbing attachments using clips.
AS - Airsoft
BDU -Battle Dress Uniform. Also known as Cammies or Utes by Marines
Bullpup - Gun design where the magazine is behind the trigger/pistol grip group as in the Steyr AUG.
Classic - Most commonly referring to an older style of airsoft guns which are powered by a gas tank, similar to a paintball gun. Some have blowback, some do not. The other meaning of this word are models such as the M4, AK, M14, and so on; the magazine is in front of the trigger.
CQB- Close Quarters Battle
CQC - Synonymous with CQB. Close Quarters Combat
CTF - Capture the flag, type of battle where 2+ teams fight over capturing flag/s.
FFA - Free For All, type of battle where everyone is against everyone, no teams.
FPS - Feet per second. The measurement of the BB speed. Usually muzzle velocity
GBB- Gas Blow Back
IMT- Individual Movement Techniques
LBV - Load bearing Vest
LPEG- Low Power Electric Gun. Similar to an AEG, but with lower FPS and plastic gearbox.
Mag - Short for Magazine.
Masterkey - This is a shotgun that can be custom mounted underneath a gun's barrel, often by R.I.S.
MGB - Metal Gearbox
MOLLE - MOdular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment
MPEG - Mid Powered Electric Gun. [usually] MGB guns with performance between Lpegs and AEGs.
NBB - Gas Non-Blowback. A gas operated gun where the slide or bolt does not cycle back to operate
NVG - Night Vision Goggles
PB - Paintball
PGB - Plastic Gearbox
RAS - Rail Accessory System
RDS - Red Dot Scope
RIS - Rail Interface System
ROF - Rate of Fire. Measured by rounds per second/minute
RS - Real Steel. Talking about real firearms.
Springer - Airsoft gun where the firing mechanism must be manually operated for every shot
Stock - Other than the back portion of a rifle that rests on your shoulder, stock means a gun kept default, with no upgrades.
TB - Tightbore barrel, a barrel with a more precise and smaller width than stock barrels, usually 6.01-6.04mm wide.
