I've noticed several people get confused about forum terminology, so here's what the main stuff means-
A forum is this whole site, full of topics and such.
A category is what all the boards are sorted into, such as 'General' or 'Airsoft'.
A board is like a whole section of threads, one could say. An example is 'CAC Matters' in the 'General' category.
A thread or topic is an individual discussion started up by a member.
Posts make up threads.
So, in essence, it goes like this:
Forum-> Category-> Board-> Thread/Topic-> Posts
